Breaking Analysis: DDN’s Hot Flash – Check Out This New Hybrid Array

DDN has joined the ranks of companies releasing new hardware this week. Today they announced the SFA7700 hybrid flash array. David Floyer, CTO and Co-Founder of Wikibon, described a model hybrid array as being one where the flash is the primary recipient of the data itself; it goes through the flash module first and then continues, if necessary, down to the hard disks. Floyer stated, “The interesting thing about this hybrid approach is they’ve allowed an integration with the applications themselves.”

With the huge influx of big data, Floyer says DDN’s architecture has proven that they can handle the reads and writes with no hiccups on data through-put. This SFA7700 array has been positioned for the mid-range of the super computing and big data application users.
