Today Continuuity has announced another round of funding for $10 million for Series A investment. Some of the investors include: Battery Ventures, Ignition Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Amplify Partners and Data Collective The funds will be used so the company can accelerate product development and drive its go-to market strategy.

“We’re excited to co-lead the Series A round for Continuuity, and we join the company in its mission to become the center of gravity for the Big Data application development ecosystem,” said Mike Dauber, Principal at Battery Ventures.

Last month the company introduced the Continuuity AppFabric, first Big Data application hosting platform at Hadoop World 2012. The AppFabric gave developers the opportunity to utilize all of the power of the Hadoop ecosystem while Big Data in and outside of the firewall were deployed, scaled and managed.

Continuuity’s whole MO is to help companies turn their ideas into Big Data. It has a fully integrated developer experience and supports application development from prototype to production. The company was built for developers by developers that have worked on some of the most complex Big Data systems in the world. It provides pre-packaged building blocks with higher level APIs, Data Libs, tooling and documentation to make Big Data applications run a lot faster.

How it works: The Developer Suite comes with an SDK, development tools, as well as a fully-featured, single-node version of the Continuuity AppFabric to create and iterate applications faster. Developers are then able to deploy applications by pressing one button, which is connected to a remote instance of the AppFabric, which is available on a first come first serve basis for customers and in the private cloud edition.
