NewsDesk SocialANGLE Round-up: Twitter and Instragam Introduce Updates

In today’s SocialANGLE Round-up, Kristin Feledy drills down the social news of the day.  Starting with Twitter, which announced that beginning December 12th all users will be equipped with updated Twitter profiles. The new feature will allow users to display their own style on their profile page by uploading a header photo.  Also, the latest versions of Twitter for iPhone and Android introduce a few new ways to enhance the images you tweet. Users can apply one of eight filters to change the look and feel of their photos, take a bird’s-eye view to see how each filter will affect their photo in a single grid view, or swipe through looks to compare options.

Instagram also released a new feature yesterday in a revamped version of the Instagram iOS application that allows users to snap better, more stylized shots.
The upgrade gives photo-sharers a completely refreshed camera experience, a new monochrome filter called Willow, an enhanced blur tool, larger images in the feed, and design tweaks throughout.  The Instagram team has also entirely changed how the camera experience looks, feels, and functions. Recently, Instagram creator Kevin Systrom has spoken out publicly about his aggressive move in removing Twitter card support in an effort he says is aimed at driving people back to Instagram for a better experience.

Kristin also talks about what is possibly the last Facebook poll, Monday’s Google services crash, the explosive growth of Japanese instant messaging app Line, Facebook’s new PMD center, Singly, Twitter’s partnership with Vizify, and Bloomberg’s potential acquisition of LinkedIn.
