Alfresco Names SuccessFactors President as New CEO

Alfresco, a maker of open-source, enterprise grade content management software, appointed Doug Dennerline as its new CEO this week.  He is replacing co-founder John Powell, who revealed that the change in management was driven by his company’s ambitions to go public.

“We have come to a unique intersection as a company and I couldn’t be happier to welcome Doug to Alfresco. The best future for Alfresco, its employees, customers and investors is to continue to grow and to ultimately pursue an IPO in the U.S. markets,” explained John Powell, former CEO and co-founder of Alfresco. “I’m confident that Doug’s experience and impressive enterprise cloud success will take Alfresco through this next phase of growth.”

Dennerline brings twenty-five-plus years of experience to Alfresco, which has only been around since 2005.  He has a strong cloud background that includes a stint as the president of HR solutions provider SuccessFactors, where he worked until its acquisition by SAP in 2012.

Prior to joining SuccessFactors, Dennerline served as EVP of enterprise sales in the Americas for Salesforce. Before that, he ran Cisco’s Webex business.

The Silicon Valley veteran is taking the helm at Alfresco on the back of the company’s most profitable quarter to date. The firm boasted 109 enterprise customer wins in the past 3 months, striking multiple deals valued at over $1 million.

Late last month, Alfresco unveiled a hybrid cloud edition of its CMS that offers native support for Amazon Web Services. The platform enables workers to share documents through the cloud more efficiently while not compromising on policy enforcement – a killer combo as far as the IT department is concerned.
