In today’s mobile news roundup: RIM launches BES 10; Surface Windows Pro 8 available on Feb.9; Galaxy SIV expected to have a square design; and more apps pulled from the Apple App Store for nudity.
RIM launches BES 10
Research in Motion has launched the much anticipated BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 – the reinvented enterprise mobility management solution to help businesses embrace mobile trends and enable management, productivity, and secure interaction with corporate data.
BES 10 features the ability to manage all BlackBerry, iOS, and Android devices, including the new BlackBerry 10 smartphones, Application management for internal corporate apps or public apps from BlackBerry World (formerly BlackBerry App World) through BlackBerry World for Work, Easy over-the-air activation for end users, and Enhanced IT policies.
BES 10 also supports the BlackBerry Balance technology, which allows IT departments and users to separate work apps and data from personal data.
“BlackBerry Balance is a truly differentiated feature that’s built into the core of BlackBerry 10,” said Peter Devenyi, RIM’s senior head of enterprise software.. “This opens up the world of personally owned devices in a way that make IT departments and corporations comfortable, because they can truly manage the corporate side of the device, while not inhibiting the use of the device by the individual who actually owns it.”

Galaxy SIV to have square design
According to the lasest surfacing reports, the nest Samsung Galaxy smartphone, the SIV, will have a square design, making its appearance similar to the SI and SII, but would have a bigger screen than the SIII at nearly 5 inches.
Apps pulled from App Store for nudity
Apple has pulled the plug on two apps from 500px, a photo sharing site, for nudity. 500px recently acquired French iOS app studio Pulpfingers, whose biggest app is ISO500, and both 500px for iOS and ISO500 have been pulled from the App Store as the latest update for the apps made it easier for users to search for nude photos. But upon checking, ISO500 is still available on iTunes.
500px COO Evgeny Tchebotarev stated that his team made it tough to search for nude photos as updating the app would result in “safe mode” being on by default, thus searching for nudity would require users to turn off safe mode. If people did not know about safe mode, then they’d have a hard time looking for nude photos. Another thing that Tchebotarev made a note of is that the company doesn’t allow pornographic images to be uploaded on their services, thus any “nude” photos you come across are artistic in nature.
