RSA Introduces Integrated Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery & Crisis Management System

EMC Division RSA has introduced RSA Archer Business Continuity Management and Operations, a tightly integrated business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management suite. Aligned with BS25999, NIMS, and ISO 22301, it offers a standards-based approach to business continuity planning. It integrates with other GRC processes such as enterprise risk management, incident management, and third-party management to align recovery efforts with organizational objectives and priorities for enhanced visibility, accountability, and reporting. More

 

Health Provider Chooses HP Converged Storage for Medical Records

Community health provider KishHealth System has chosen HP Converged Storage to accelerate delivery of electronic medical records to its front-line medical personnel. The DeKalb, Illinois-based organization provides outpatient services in 13 facilities across northern Illinois. It chose HP to support capacity demands for storage medical images on its Agfa Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and increase response time of its MediTech electronic medical records (EMR) system. More

 

IBM Reports 11% GAAP Increase for Fourth Quarter

IBM has announced a diluted EPS GAAP of $5.13, up 11 percent year-to-year for its fourth quarter, and a non-GAP of $5.39, up 14 percent. Its GAAP net income was $5.8 billion, up 6%. Its full year diluted EPS increase was in double digits for the 10th consecutive year. More

 

Fusio-io Announces All-Flash Datacenter for Hyperscale and Cloud

In conjunction with the Open Compute Summit, Fusion-io has announced Fusion ioScale for hyperscale and cloud companies in minimum order quantities of one hundred units. Each ioScale provides up to 3.2 terabytes of Fusion ioMemory capacity with performance tuned for the needs of webscale environments. Prices start at US $3.89 per gigabyte with increasing volume discounts. More

 

Blake Krilorian Named VP of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment

Entrepreneur Blake Krikorian has been made corporate vice president of Microsoft Corp.’s Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB), reporting to Marc Vhitten, chief product officer for IEB. The appointment follows acquisition of Krikorian’s company, id8 Group R2 Studios. Before founding R2 Studios, Krikorian was co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Sling Media Inc, inventors of the Emmy-winning Slingbox. He served on the board of Amazon.com and co-founded Philips Mobile Computing Group, co-leading the group that created the Velo 1 handheld PC running Windows CE. More

 

Microsoft Announces Windows 8 Platform for Retail Floor Customer Services

Microsoft’s Windows Embedded Group has announced plans to roll out Windows 8-based platforms and technologies to enable retail industry devices such as digital signage, POS terminals, and kiosks that will be parts of intelligent systems rather than standalone entities. The devices will help retailers provide better digital services, blurring the line between the physical store and online shopping to regain some of the sales they are now losing to online competitors. It has announced a new release preview of Windows Embedded 8 Industry. General availability for the new product is expected in mid-2013. More

Microsoft has announced the latest release of Microsoft Dynamics for Retail with new capabilities and innovative features to help retailers deliver a complete shopping experience through end-to-end, search-based e-commerce; what Microsoft calls a “next-generation POS”; and an omnichannel commercial engine. These capabilities are intended to help retailers worldwide deliver connected, personal, relevant experiences to their customers. More

 

Ernst & Young Makes Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” for 15th Consecutive Year

Ernst & Young is in Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the 15th year, marking a milestone. Listed as number 57, it advanced two places from last year’s ranking. The listing, says Nancy Altobellow, vice chair for people, “demonstrates our long-term commitment to making sure that every one of our people, no matter what office or practice, whether they stay three months as an intern or 30 years as a partner, is having experiences and building relationships that will last a lifetime.” More

 

Ernst & Young Wins Two Awards for Outstanding Service to the Hedge Fund Industry

Ernst & Young LLP has received the award for Best Audit Services from the 2012 HFM Week U.S. Hedge Fund Services Awards and was ranked as the top audit and accounting firm in Hedge Funds Review’s 2012 Service Provider Rankings. This is the fourth consecutive year that the company has been recognized by HFMWeek and the second time it has placed at the top of the Hedge Funds Review rankings. More
