Nimble Storage Announces 1,000th Customer

Flash-optimized hybrid storage system entrepreneur Nimble Storage has announced its 1,000th customer win in its less than two-and-a-half year history. The customer, Citipointe Christian College Brisbane, Australia, highlights Nimble’s successful entry into the global marketplace. Nimble’s arrays combine the performance of flash with the economics of disk and are often used for storing and protecting data from Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, and VDI servers. More

IBM BOD Declares Cash Dividend

IBM’s board of directors has declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.85 per common share, payable March 9 to stockholders of record February 8. IBM has paid consecutive quarterly dividends every year since 1916. It also announced that its next annual meeting of stockholders will be April 30 at the Von Braun Center, Huntsville, Alabama. VMware Reports Record Q4 and FY2012 Results

VMware has reported 22 percent FY2012 annual growth to a record $4.61 billion and 22 percent Q4 growth to a record $1.29 billion, an annual operating margin of 18.9% and non-GAAP operating margin of a record 32.4 percent. Its Q4 operating margin was 19.5% and non-GAAP operating margin a record 32.8%. more

 

Microsoft to Support Vocational Training for 500,000 in Morocco

Morocco’s Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion, a public vocational education institution that provides programs covering 35 fields of study via 327 training institutes, has chosen Microsoft Office 365 to enhance its educational and vocational training systems. In addition, the OFPPT will work with Microsoft to create 100 new Microsoft IT Academies across the country. The strategic partnership is designed to transform education and enable OFPPT to continue its mission to offer quality training that aligns with the needs of young Moroccans and the regional economy. Cisco Issues Security Report on Emerging Threats Linked to Worker Online Behavior

Cisco has released findings from two global studies that identify rising security challenges for businesses and individuals that are magnified as employees become more mobile while blending work and personal lifestyles. The findings from Cisco’s “2013 Annual Security Report” show that the highest concentration of online security threats do not originate from porno, pharmaceutical, or gambling sites, but rather from legitimate destinations visited by mass audiences. These include major search engines, retail sites, and social media outlets. Cisco found, for instance, that online shopping sites are 21 times as likely and popular search engines 27 times as likely to deliver malicious content than a counterfeit software site. Online advertisements are 182 times as likely to deliver malicious content as porn sites. More
