iPhone Games that Should Be Cartoon Series

Rovio’s Angry Birds franchise is very popular, and enjoyed by many, regardless of age.  Before Rovio launches a new version or introduce a new character, it releases teaser video clips on its site, building the anticipation for its upcoming release.

Honestly, I’ve enjoyed watching the short video clips.  They’re fun and it makes the game more intriguing.  So how would you react if Rovio launches cartoon-style episodes of Angry Birds, complete with a story line explaining of why these birds are so angry, and what life was like before the pigs started stealing their eggs?

If you actually want to see the plot behind the popular game, then you’re in luck.  Rovio announced that Angry Birds cartoons will be launched this coming spring.  The only downside is, the cartoons probably won’t be shown on TVs since the company wants to leverage its large user base.  As of January 2013, over 260 million users enjoy playing Angry Birds and Rovio could be able to view a cartoon series about their favorite game.

The likely place to distribute Angry Birds’ cartoons would be Rovio’s website and possibly incorporated in the game itself.  This would work independently of TV deals, broadcasters and the countless other obstacles Rovio could encounter through mainstream media.

Angry Birds cartoons made me think, if Rovio pushes with this project, no matter what channel they use to distribute it, there’s a huge chance that other companies would also go the same route.  The question is, will people be interested in watching their favorite game into a cartoon?

3 mobile games that deserve a cartoon series

.

Devil’s Attorney – SiliconANGLE founding editor Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins would love to see this turn-based strategy game turned to a cartoon.  Why?  Because it would be hilarious!  The game revolves around you, an attorney high on charm but low on moral fiber.  You will do everything to get clients out of jail so you can live in luxury.  It would be interesting to see his antiques in the courtroom, charming the judge and the jury, to set his clients free.  But I’m pretty sure this would not be something suited for children.

Plants vs. Zombies – this addictive tower defense game is something SiliconANGLE game expert and editor Kyt Dotson would like to see as a cartoon.  It has plants attacking zombies… and Z-O-M-B-I-E-S!  Need I say more? This would also be a great way for kids to like zombies without being exposed to George A. Romero’s version of the monsters.

Civilization Revolution – ServicesANGLE editor Bert Latamore recommends this war-based strategy game turned into cartoons.  You have your own civilization to build, grow and lead to war, complete with the famous historical figures.  You could say that this games gives history a new twist.  If this was turned into a cartoon series, it could be an educational cartoon, making history interesting and fun for kids.

What about you?  What’s your favorite mobile game and would you want to watch a cartoon version of it?
