NaviSite Achieves UK SSAE 16 Compliance, Announces Successful Audit Period

NaviSite Inc., an enterprise-class hosting, managed application, managed messaging, and managed cloud service provider, has announced that its cloud-enabled data center in Woking, U.K., and its facility in London, U.K., have achieved SSAE-16 compliance. The new U.K. facilities, along with six additional data centers, were included in NaviSite’s latest successful SSAE-16 audit period of October 1, 2011-September 20, 2012 with no required qualifications or exceptions. NaviSite Europe Joins U.K. G-Cloud II Program

NaviSite Europe Ltd. has been awarded a framework agreement by the U.K. Government to join its G-Cloud II program. This allows it to provide its NaviCloud IaaS service to local U.K. authorities and government departments an wider public sector organizations through the U.K. CloudStore. More

 

VMware Introduces vSphere with Operations Management and vSphere Data Protection Advanced

VMware has announced VMware vSphere with Operations Management, which combines vSphere with the VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite, and vSphere Data Protection Advanced, a new edition of the vSphere Data Protection backup and recovery system. VMware says these new extensions will allow customers to:

  • Reduce Capex costs by as much as 30 percent,
  • Optimize capacity, improving utilization by as much as 40 percent and consolidation ratios by 37 percent,
  • Improve application availability and performance, cutting downtime by more than a third and reducing time to resolve problems by 26 percent, and,
  • Reduce backup storage capacity by as much as 95 percent and backup on network traffic by as much as 99 percent.

HP Introduces Responsible Supplier Guidelines for Workers in China

HP has issued new guidelines and measurement processes for student and dispatch workers, including temporary, auxiliary, and substitute workers, for its suppliers with operations in China. The guidelines, a first for the IT industry, are a response to the significant increase in the use of these workers in Chinese manufacturing facilities. Developed in consultation with key stakeholders including China’s Center for Child Rights and Corporate Social Responsibility, they reinforce regulatory requirements while introducing additional expectations for suppliers. Strong Collaboration Between CIO, C-Suite Key to Top Corporate Performance says PwC Survey

PwC’s fifth annual Digital IQ survey finds that companies with strong, collaborative relationships between the CIO and other C-Suite executives are four times as likely to be top performers as those with fragmented relationships. A strong Digital IQ entails more than adopting the latest tools or having a large IT budget, the report says. It is about consistently linking IT investments to business strategy to improve speed, agility, and competitive advantage. More
