Dell Reports US$57 Billion in Annual Revenue

Dell has reported annual revenues of $56.9 billion for FY 2012 and revenues of $14.3 billion for 4Q12. GAAP eanings are $1.35 per share for the year and $0.30 per share for the quarter, and cash flow from operations is $3.3 billion for the year and $1.4 billion for the quarter. More

 

Dell Releases Backup and Recovery System with Improved Flexibility and Cost-Efficiency

Dell has announced its next-generation disk backup appliance built on the Fluid Data architecture. The high performance Dell DR4100 disk backup appliance can reduce the amount of backup storage capacity customers need by up to 15X using built-in data deduplication and compression technologies. It offers expansion shelves for improved storage capacity, increased many-to-one replication capabilities for improved disaster recovery, and additional backup software certifications for enhanced interoperability. VMware Unveils Horizon Suite for Workforce Mobility

VMware Inc. has announced the VMware Horizon Suite, a comprehensive platform for workforce mobility that will connect end-users to their data, applications, and desktops on any device without sacrificing security and control. The new suite includes updates to VMware Horizon View and VMware Horizon Mirage and a new product, VMware Horizon Workspace that in combination support a secure, easy-to-manage virtual workspace that delivers a consistent, compelling experience across devices. Yammer Accelerates Momentum after Microsoft Acquisition

Enterprise Social Network Yammer, which became part of the Microsoft Office Division in 2012. Full year 2012 sales nearly tripled year-over-year and fourth-quarter sales quadrupled year-over-year. It added 290 paying customers in the fourth quarter including GlazoSmithKline, Grundfos, Trek Bicycle Corp., and Woolworths Ltd, and now has more than 7 million registered users. More

 

Microsoft Announces New Imagine Cup Competitions Focused on Women

Microsoft Corp. has announced two new competitions that focus on women and female technology innovators at the Microsoft Imagine Cup, the company’s global student technology competition. The Women’s Empowerment Award was established in partnership with UN Woman, the U.N,. organization focused on accelerating gender equality and empowerment for women, an will be awarded to two student teams of any gender who create products that best address issues impacting women globally. The Women’s Athletics App Challenge, created in partnership with the Seattle Storm women’s basketball team, is for female developers, innovators, and entrepreneurs who create software related to sports, health, or fitness. Cisco Receives AT&T Supplier Sustainability Award in Energy Efficiency

Cisco has been honored with the AT&T 2012 Supplier Sustainability Awar for outstanding contributions in energy efficiency, environment, greenhouse gas emissions, and water use. As part of the longstanding relationship between the two companies, Cisco has helped AT&T increase energy efficiency while managing increased data traffic on its network 20,000 percent between 2007 an 2011. more
