The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has expanded on a global Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft with a new Memorandum of Understanding. The IFRC will offer Microsoft Office 365 and other products as its new standard communications and collaboration platform worldwide. Cisco Announces Next-Generation Internet Architecture

Cisco has announced that SFR, a leading mobile telecommunications provider in France, will expand its mobile Internet network using the Cisco next-generation Internet architecture. This includes elastic packet core, mobile backhaul, and service provider WiFi solutions. It will allow SFR to deploy the widest range of heterogeneous radio networks (2G/3G, 4G LTE, WiFi), capture new business opportunities, foster new business models, and meet rapidly growing network demands. Nice Builds Virtual City Hall on Cisco Platform in Nice Etoile Mall

The Nice Cote d’Azure Metropolitan Area and City of Nice have built a virtual city hall, offering real-time services, in the Nice Etoile shopping mall. The “Spot Mairie” (City Hall Point) cabin is equipped with Cisco high-definition video to allow residents to interact face-to-face with a remote agent. The experiment, a first for public services, is part of a partnership agreement between the Nice Metropolitan Area and Cisco France for the area’s digital development. More

 

Cisco, Wharton School Open Learning Experience of the Future

The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Cisco have unveiled the “learning experience of the future” blending life-size visual communication via telepresence with collaboration facilities to enhance interaction and learning among faculty, students, and alumni independent of physical location. The life-size, high-definition visual communications, based on Cisco TelePresence technology allows Wharton to connect classrooms that are physically separated by thousands of miles for an immersive experience.
