TCS Research Shows Airlines Overtaking Energy Companies in Targeting Mobile Consumers

Energy, telecom, and airline companies are leading in spending on reaching customers through their mobile devices according to the New Digital Mobile Consumer global trend report commissioned by Tata Consultancy Services. The research reveals that average expenditure within the companies surveyed in these sectors during 2012 was between US $27 million and US $31 million per company. Energy companies spent an average of $30.8 billion per company targeting mobile consumers; telecom spent $28.6 million; and airlines, $27.2 million. More

 

Tata Releases the 2013 Well Being and Female Security Indices for India

The Tata Strategic Management Group analyzed multiple government sources and surveys to generate the Well Being Index and Female Security Indices for India in 20113. Two clusters — Puynjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Himachal Pradesh; and Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, topped the Well Being Index. Southern states, Gujarat, and most north-eastern states emerged as the most secure for women. More

 

Infosys to Add 200 Jobs to Metro Atlanta Area

Consulting, technology, and outsourcing company Infosys has announced plans to add approximately 200 new jobs at its Cumberland location in Cobb County, Georgia, in the next fiscal year and expects additional expansion in the metro Atlanta area over the next couple of years. Infosys has identified Atlanta as a strategic hub for growth in the United States in part because of its infrastructure, cosmopolitan culture, and talent pool. This attracted Infosys BPO, its Business Process Outsourcing subsidiary, to create an operations center there to deliver high-end business process services to North American clients. More

 

Wipro, Infoblox Partnership to Extend Network Control to Global Organizations

Automated network control company Infoblox Inc. and Wipro Infotech, IT business unit of Wipro Ltd., have announced a global reseller agreement to give businesses and government agencies greater control over their corporate IT networks. The increasing demands put on networks by mobile devices and bring-your-own-device programs, virtualization, and private clouds, and the transition to IPv6, have created greater complexity and risk that IT must manage. Wipro will deliver Infoblox technology to help customers automate network control functions such as DNS, DHCP, and IPAM to reduce complexity and costs, increase security, and maximize uptime. More

Organizations Advancing Analytics Adoption, Struggling to Capitalize on Investments, Accenture Finds

Organizations are progressing in the adoption of analytics but suffer disconnects in applying the analytics to business decision-making according to new research from Accenture. A survey of 600 executives in the United Kingdom and United States found that in the last 18 months 66 percent of responding companies have appointed senior management (e.g., chief data officers) to lead data management strategies and policies and support business growth. The use of analytics as a predictive tool has almost tripled to 33 percent from 12 percent in 2009. However, only one-fifth of respondents said they were “very satisfied” with business outcomes driven by their analytics investments to date. More
