Moscow RR Chooses HP Software for Suburban Rail

Moscow Railways (MZD) has raised quality and safety levels for its suburban transportation network with a single automated management system based on HP Service Manager software. MZD, an affiliate of JSC Russian Railways, is responsible for 60.4 percent of suburban transportation across Russia, averaging 1.4 million passengers per day over 8,000 miles of track with 585 units of rolling stock, more than 4,000 engineers and assistants, more than 2,000 POS terminals, and 1,800 platform gates. HP Service Manager ensures that transportation safety measures are in place throughout the system and enables timely reaction to security or schedule delay incidents. More

 

HP & Samsung Create Mobile Print System

HP has introduced a new print service built within select Samsung devices including the Galaxy S 4 to provide an easy way to print documents, photos, and Web printers directly to any of more than 180 HP network printer models. The embedded system requires no setup, tools, drivers, or network configurations to adjust on the phone, making mobile printing effortless and convenient. It offers sophisticated printer settings and options that include duplex printing, color, orientation, and paper type. More

 

HP Introduces New Information Management & Analytics Service

HP Enterprise Services has introduced a new information management and analytics service to help clients rapidly gain increased value from Big Data assets to support new revenue opportunities, improve efficiency, reduce risk, and decrease costs. The new service is designed to help users take command of the variety, velocity, and volume of information flooding their businesses. Global research commissioned by HP shows that more than half of business executives say their organizations are not equipped with the right solutions to gain insight from Big Data. More

 

Boston Partners with IBM to Build ‘Smarter Planet’

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, City of Boston, Boston University & IBM have partnered with IBM in multiple Smarter Planet projects to explore new solutions to long-standing urban issues. These projects focus on using new technology to increase energy efficiency, enhance coordination of major events, reduce traffic congestion, and improve street system maintenance. The pilots use the latest IBM technology to combine high volumes of data from sensors and databases with analytics to better visualize and manage operations. More

President Humala uses Cisco Technology to Greet Students at Start of Peruvian School Year

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso welcomed hundreds of students at the start of the Peruvian school year from the Cisco TelePresence Room at the Government Palace using a Cisco TelePresence 3000 system connected to the Shuji Kitamura School outside Lima and 191 other schools across the country. The systems were distributed in several rooms, allowing Deputy Minister of Pedagogical Management Martin Vegas, Minister of Health Midori De Habich and Minister of Social Development and Inclusion Carolina Trivelli to participate. Université Laval and Cisco Create Chair of Education Learning for Distance Education

As part of the Program of Chairs in Educational Leadership (CEL), Quebec’s Université Laval Rector Denis Briere and Executive Vice-Rector for Development Éric Bauce have created a new Chair in Educational Leadership (CEL) devoted to Distance Education in computer science and software engineering. The primary goal of this CEL is to explore leading-edge technology that will allow the faculty to offer high-caliber online courses in computer science and software engineering. The chair is funded in part by Cisco Canada with a $325,000 investment in the project, matched by an equal amount from the Université. More
