Project Runway Stays with HP, Intel for Fifth Season

The popular Lifetime show “Project Runway” showcased HP’s innovative technology as it started its new season at the end of March. This is the fifth consecutive season that it has used HP and Intel technology, demonstrating the role that technology can play in the creative arts. With a heavy focus on pattern making, “The Art of Fashion” episode began at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s exhibit, “Art of Another Kind: International Abstraction and the Guggenheim, 1949-1960”. The Project Runway teams were instructed to use the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed museum, its exhibits, and the ultrathin Hp Envy x2 as inspiration for their designs. More


Telkom Indonesia Contracts IBM to Build Data Center

Telkom Indonesia, through its affiliate Telkomsigma, has partnered with IBM to build a data center and provide data center operations services. This collaboration is expected to address the needs of organizations across industries in Indonesia for data center solutions, supported by reliable communications networks. Telkom is also working with IBM to address critical location challenges such as the impact of Indonesia’s frequent earthquakes and tropical storms on communications  networks.  More


Dell Files Preliminary Proxy Statement for Merger Agreement with Affiliates of Michael Dell and Silver Lake

Dell has filed preliminary proxy materials with the SEC connected to the definitive merger agreement between the company and entities owned by Michael Dell, Dell’s founder, chairman, and CEO, and investment funds affiliated with Silver Lake partners. Under the terms of the agreement Dell shareholders will receive US$13.65 in cash for each share of Dell common stock they hold in a transaction valued at approximately $24.4 billion. More

Broadcom Corp. has promoted Michael Hurlston to Executive VP of Worldwide Sales effective today. He replaces Thomas Lagatta, who will continue with Broadcom as EVP of Business Development until his retirement at the end of 2013. Hurlston most recently served as SVP and GM of the Wireless Connectivity Combo business. More

Idea Cellular, an Indian telecom operator, has chosen the BCM21654G integrated Android 4.0 platform for its new Idea Ivory Android smartphone. The Broadcom 3G platform allows it to provide customers with an entry-level smartphone offering enhanced  functionality, powerful graphics, and advanced features including dual-SIM connectivity. The clock is ticking toward Tax Day in the United States, but, says Ernst & Young, that is no excuse to leave money on the table. The 28th edition of the Ernst & Young Tax Guide, now available in e-book formats, suggest that filers can save money by reviewing their 2011 tax return. That may contain items that carry over to 2012 or remind filers of deductions, credits, and savings they are entitled to, says Greg Rosica, an E&Y LLP Tax Partner and contributing author to the guide.
