NUS Deploys Largest Education Wireless Environment in Southeast Asia

The National University of Singapore (NUS), in collaboration with ICT provider NCS and Cisco, has successfully implemented a flexible, scalable, high-speed wireless network across its Kent Ridge and Bukit Timah campuses in Singapore. The wireless network will meet the growing mobility needs of its students & staff across the two locations and provide high levels of performance and scalability, while simplifying management. It will support seamless WiFi roaming between NUS and overseas institutions via Eduroam. More


La Palma & Tenerife Open First Telemedicine Service in Spain

The council of the island of La Palma and the the Canary Island Health Service have announced creation of the first telemedicine service available in Spain. The pioneering project is based on the Cisco HealthPresence software platform, enabling patients in the General Hospital of La Palma and the University Hospital of the Canary Islands in Tenerife to obtain remote medical assistance without traveling from one island to another. More


Cisco Sees Shift in Consumer Attitudes in India toward Personal Data, Telemedicine, and Access to Medical Information

Cisco has released the global Cisco Customer Experience Report focused on health care. The findings indicate a growing shift in consumer expectations of medical services in India. It found that 94 percent of the 200 Indians surveyed are willing to store their health records in the cloud for easy access; 88 percent are comfortable with interacting with their doctors virtually instead of meeting them in person; and 87 percent would trust technology to determine whether they need to see a doctor. More

PwC Releases Latest Securities Litigation Study

Securities litigation filings decreased dramatically in 4Q12, from 46 cases on average for the first three quarters of the year to only 33 cases in the last quarter. This was the lowest level since the 30 cases in 2Q09 according to the 17th annual Securities Litigation study released today by PwC US. The study, titled At the Crossroads, Waiting for a Sign, found that overall federal securities class action filings decrease by about 10 percent in 2012 from 2011. More


Consumer Ratings Impacting Healthcare Providers’ Bottom Lines Says PwC

As Americans spend their own money on healthcare, they are searching for reviews and ratings to guide their decision-making, but so far they are not finding what they need, according to a new report from PwC’s Health Research Institute (HRI). The report, Scoring Healthcare: Navigating Customer Experience Ratings, concludes that providers that translate consumer feedback into improved quality and better experience stand to reap rewards. Forty-eight percent of respondents said they have read healthcare reviews but only 24 percent said they have written one. More
