Yahoo! Reports 7 Percent Decrease in 1Q Earnings Year-to-Year

Yahoo! Inc. has reported net GAAP revenue of $1,140 million for 1Q13, a 7 percent decrease from 1Q12. Revenue excluding traffic acquisition costs was $1,074 million, flat compared to 1Q12. Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer said, “I’m pleased with Yahoo!’s performance for the first quarter.” More

Provo to Become Third Google Fiber City

The Google Fiber team has arrived in Provo, Utah, where Mayor John Curtis announced that Provo will be the third Google Fiber City. Provo is the home base for a large population of tech companies and startups, rates second in the nation in patent growth, and is consistent ranked as one of the top places to live and do business in the U.S. In order to bring fiber to Provo, Google is purchasing the existing, city-owned iProvo fiber network and is committed to upgrade the network to gigabit technology and finish its construction. TCS Closes FY13 with Sustained Growth Momentum

Tata Consultancy Services has closed its FY2013 with annual revenues of Rs62.989 crore, up 28.8 percent from FY2012. Added incremental revenues were Rs14,095. Annual net profit was Rs. 13,941 crore, up 30.9 percent from FY2012. Fourth quarter revenues were Rs16,430 crore, up 23.9 percent, and net profit was Rs3,597, up 22.1%. More


Tata Group Announces Books for First Nations in Canada

The Tata Group has announced the donation of 10,000 new books to school children in the First Nations Communities of Northern Quebec-Labrador. The gift is Tata’s second donation in Canada and is part of its continued partnership with First Book, an award-winning non-profit organization that provides new books to children in need. Additionally employee volunteers from Tata Steel Minerals Canada will participate in a reading event hosted by schools in Schefferville and Kawawachikamach to support children’s literacy. More
