Infosys Reports Growth in Year-to-Year Profit, Revenues for FY, 3Q2013

InfoSys has reported gross profit of Rs15,072M on revenues of Rs40,352M for FY2013, up from Rs13,826M and Rs33,734M respectively.  Quarterly results also showed an increase year-to-year, with 4Q13 gross profit of Rs3,652M on revenues of Rs10,454M compared to a profit of Rs2,647M on gross revenues of Rs8,854M in 4Q12. More


Queen’s U Belfast Partners with Infosys to Combat Cyber Security

Queen’s University Belfast, Ireland, has signed a strategic partnership with Infosys to combat global cyber security threats. The collaboration includes the University’s Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT), one of the U.K.’s largest and most prestigious cyber security research labs, and Invest Northern Ireland, the Northern Ireland government’s regional business development agency. Wipro Reports 19% Net Income and 16% Revenue Growth for FY2013

Wipro has reported 19 percent year-to-year net income growth to Rs61.36B ($1.22B) for FY2013, on a 16 percent total revenue growth to Rs433.61B ($7.95B). Results for 4Q13, ending March 31, showed a year-to-year net income growth of 17% to Rs17.29B ($259 M) on total revenues of Rs110.26B ($2.02B), a 12% year-to-year growth. More


Cognizant to Sponsor Dedicated Education Area at Maker Faire Bay Area

Cognizant, a founding sponsor of the Maker Education Initiative, will sponsor a dedicated Education Area at Maker Faire Bay Area 2013 in the San Mateo County Events Center, May 18-19. It will showcase young makers from its after school and summer programs who will teach young attendees to create fun things using electronics, digital fabrication tools, open source hardware, and the Scratch programming languages. U.S. Consumers Want Seamless Shopping Across Store, Online, & Mobile FInds Accenture

A new study from Accenture finds that many U.S. retailers are struggling to meet consumer desires for a seamless shopping experience across physical store, online, and mobile channels. Those that succeed will win customer loyalty and gain a competitive advantage that drives sales. Based on a poll of 750 U.S. consumers and an analysis of how top retailers operate across multiple sales channels, the Accenture Seamless Retail Study found that 49 percent of consumers believe the best thing retailers can do to improve the shopping experience is to improve integration of in-store, online, and mobile shopping channels. An overwhelming 89 percent said it is important for retailers to let them shop for products in the way that is most convenient for them. More


Accenture Launches Center of Excellence for Oracle Engineered Systems

Accenture has created an Oracle Engineered Systems Center of Excellence, hosted by the Accenture Innovation Centers for Oracle, which will help enable faster and more cost-effective implementation of Oracle solutions for Accenture’s clients globally. The virtual center is dedicated to accelerating the development, delivery, and commercialization of business solutions based on Oracle’s Engineered Systems, including Oracle Exadata Database Machine, Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, and Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine. More


Australian School Blocks Web Threats with HP Security

Ballarat Grammar, an Anglican school in Victoria, Australia, has selected HP’s Sentinel Security SDN application, part of HP Virtual Application Networks, to block network security threats and enhance learning opportunities for students. Ballarat Grammar’s network supports 1,400 students and 200 faculty members, each with school-issued laptops and their own BYOD smartphones and tablets. Security issues such as botnets, spyware, and malware create significant exposure for the school and have impacted student productivity. More


Jupiter Medical Center Chooses HP to Support Application Growth

Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida, has deployed an HP Converged Infrastructure to accelerate medical application delivery to improve patient care and support growth. Jupiter Medical Center, a community-based, non-profit health center, maintains an extensive IT infrastructure to support electronic medical records, picture archiving, and communications systems. It needed a data center solution that would simplify access to critical medical applications and information while preparing for the future. More


IBM Reports 1% Net Earnings Decrease for 1Q13

IBM has reported 1Q13 diluted earnings of $2.70 per share, a 3 percent increase over 1Q12, on net earnings of $3.0B, a 1 percent year-to-year decrease. Total revenues for the quarter were down 5 percent (3 percent adjusted for currency) to $23.4B. More
