LIVE: How Much Does Google CEO Larry Page’s Health Issue Affect Google?

On today’s SiliconANGLE Live NewsDesk Show, (see embed feed below or visit youtube.com/siliconangle to watch on-demand), we learn more about Google Chief Executive Officer Larry Page’s personal health issues. He has publicly addressed concerns surrounding his personal health and is now providing us with answers regarding the vocal cord paralysis and his hoarse sounding speech.

In a post to his page on the social network Google+, Page recounts his 14-year history with vocal cord nerve strain and says that he is slowly recovering even though his voice is softer than before. He went on to say that, “Vocal cord nerve issues can also affect your breathing, so my ability to exercise at peak aerobic capacity is somewhat reduced.” That being said, his friends still believe he has way more stamina and energy than them when they go kitesurfing.

After meeting Dr. Steven Zeitels from the Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center, Page has arranged to fund a significant research program through the Voice Health Institute, believed to be $20 million.

Joining us now to tell us more about what Page’s struggles could mean for Google is SiliconANGLE Founder John Furrier. (See the live broadcast, embed below ~ if you missed today’s topic, check our YouTube channel for archived clips.)

Some of the things we’ll be discussing with Furrier include, any additional health complications Page’s diagnosis is known to lead to, whether the damage permanent, the expectations of how Wall Street will react, the comparison to Steve Jobs and how he was extremely private with his health issues, and finally — will Page’s approach affect the behavior of other high profile executives in regards to the health information they choose to disclose to the public?
