4 Life-Logging Apps that Won’t Kill Your Battery

The popular life-logging app Saga has gone social in its first major update since launch last year, so you can now share the personal story of your past, present and future.

Launched in public beta last year, Saga initially let iOS users to keep track of various aspects of their lives including locations they’ve visited, workout progress and trip travel time, all of which can be viewed in a beautifully oriented timeline.  With this week’s update (see our full review here), Saga users can share their lifelogs effortlessly and stay in touch with the people who matter most.  Life-logging used to be a solo effort, but A.R.O., the development firm behind Saga, believes that by making Saga social, it can help people stick to their goals through social accountability.

It’s an interesting diversion from the Facebook way of social story-telling, where it’s relatively easy to curate and even fictionalize the portrayal of our lives.  But with Saga, “there’s an opportunity to be authentic and firmly place yourself in the non-fiction side,” says Andy Hickl, A.R.O.’s co-founder and CEO.  “I can share out not just who I want to be, but who I actually am.”

Another great thing about Saga’s update is that it resolves the issue of battery drainage. Since it’s a life-logging app potentially running 24/7, it has the tendency to take much of your device’s battery.  With this update, you can now enjoy logging your life without worrying about draining the juice of your device.

Speaking of tracking your everyday activities, here are some other life-logging apps that won’t leave you with a dead device at the end of the day.

Lifebox

There are moments in our lives when we wish we could turn back the hands of time just so we can prove that someone said something that they are now denying.  Though a time machine may be something we’ll never see, at least now there’s a life-logging app that captures audio 24/7 and uploads everything to Dropbox, all done with minimal battery drain.  Lifebox is best for people who are very forgetful or have friends who keep making promises that they soon forget.  Available as a free download on Google Play.

Lift

This is an iPhone and web app helps people identify their good or bad habits, achieve goals, track progress and even get peers involved in the process for some positive reinforcement.  This app allows you to set goals and keep track of your activities.  It can also help eliminate bad habits so you can start living a more meaningful life.

Flava

This journaling app supports text, photo, voice, video, location data, book/music/movie libraries, URL available for composition of a single page entry all at the same time, thematic icon and text tagging for fast and easy organization of pages, auto replay showing pictures from past moments with nice background music, exportation of selected pages of pictures within Flava timeline via facebook and twitter, and in-app PIN lock, live photo filter and various sub features including photo geotagging & date stamping option.

It also has its own cloud service so everything on your Flava app can be backed up to it.  It can be used as a personal diary, a blog of sorts for sharing insights into anything under the sun, baby book, scrapbook, or anything you wish to log.
