Good Technology Sets their Sights on Mid-Market

Good Technology emerged with an announcement yesterday that is designed to help clients of all sizes progress in their mobile maturity capabilities.  Their popular flagship product Good for Enterprise has been made available to companies of any size for $5 per user per month on an annual basis.  In a competitive Mobile Device Management (MDM) market, Good stands out for their containerized, easy management feature-filled product.  With this quick-start ability to get their product in the hands of practically any organization, they stand to build a base of clients that were previously not as reachable before.

Good’s price announcement is a pretty big shift in the way MDM products are currently sold in the industry.  Typical solutions require some infrastructure, long-term planning, and deployment, not to mention the licensing.  This per-user model changes that, allowing for a gradual adoption, and simplifying a number of IT propositions in getting an MDM/mobile security solution into place.  Good has further differentiated itself from competitors because for one, it supports multiple operating systems and is focused on securing corporate data, not just the devices.  The new subscription model is also much more flexible, opening up the choices that customers have when it comes to mobile devices and apps.  The cross-platform support makes for a more complete mobile security solution.  That includes iOS, Android, and Windows Phone Devices.  Good is encouraging a broader audience to embrace tools that are necessary in ultimately protecting a business’ intellectual property.

“Adoption of a true mobile strategy means customers need the most secure foundation possible,” said Christy Wyatt, CEO of Good Technology. “Enterprises today need a scalable, reliable and affordable solution that empowers their employees with a productivity suite, and that is extensible over time as their mobility strategy matures and evolves.  With this Good for Enterprise offer, enterprises can simply take advantage of the same proven secure mobility solution trusted by the worlds leading banks, federal agencies and Global 2000 customers, and realize global productivity for their users.”

The world of BYOD and MDM solutions is pretty busy right now.  The need for these technologies exploded onto the scene with the rapid and unplanned arrival of smartphones and tablets into corporate environments.  With that introduction came a whole host of issues such as security, data loss, mobile applications, and others that IT has had to answer.  Within the market out there, industry giants have come forward with their solutions as well.  Microsoft and VMWare both recently announced BYOD solutions, but these solutions thus far only offer support for single platforms.  That’s one place Good has an advantage in cross-platform support that is also now quite cost-effective.   Looking at this landscape of choices for MDM it can be hard to sort out the performers from the bunch, but looking at this flexible entry platform that Good has put out it seems pretty compelling.  This kind of fresh commitment to providing enterprise-grade MDM and mobile security looks to keep Good out ahead of the pack.
