Appcelerator Succeeds with Vision for Developers in Today’s Mobile Era

Appcelerator, a leading provider of cloud-based mobile development solutions, has been named as a “visionary” by Gartner for the second year in a row. The company secured the highest placement for vision and execution in the recently published Magic Quadrant for Mobile Application Development Platforms.

“We believe Appcelerator’s position as the most visionary company by Gartner in the MADP Magic Quadrant recognizes our ability to establish an industry-leading vision for enterprise mobility,” stated Jeff Haynie, the chief executive officer of Appcelerator. “We’re proud to offer solutions trusted by thousands of enterprises and more than 480,000 mobile developers.”

Gartner credits Appcelerator for creating a “large following” of 450,000 developers who have deployed more than 50,000 apps on 130 million devices. The research firm says that vendor’s community-centric business model enables it to “identify and promote ecosystem technologies that drive the most interest” before the competition. Case in point, Appcelerator was among the first mobile heavyweights to identify the value of Big Data.

In May this year the company launched Appcelerator Platform, an enterprise-grade integrated development environment (IDE) designed with data-driven programming in mind. The IDE is complemented by a hosted data integration service, an analytics app that maps user adoption, engagement and retention, and a performance monitoring tool that keeps tabs on application usability.

Appcelerator CTO Nolan Wright gave his insider’s perspective on the firm’s Big Data strategy in an exclusive interview with SiliconANGLE’s Kristen Nicole. The executive dubbed data aggregation as a means to accelerate time-to-market, and touted that his company’s platform enables corporate developers to integrate their mobile backends with a wide range of data sources. These include popular SaaS solutions such as Salesforce and on-premise Oracle and SAP deployments.
