iPhone 5c Now Ready for Pre-order: Fanbois Already Camped Out

Apple fanbois can now head onto Apple’s page and pre-order the iPhone 5c.

You can choose to purchase either a white, yellow, pink, blue or green device, and get the 16GB for only $99, or the 32GB for $199, with a two year contract on AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.  For T-Mobile subscribers, you can get the unlocked and contract-free iPhone 5c for $549 for the 16GB and $649 for the 32GB.  The iPhone 5c pre-ordered on the four carriers will start shipping on September 20, 2013.  If you wish further customization, you can also order colorful silicon microfiber cases for $29 each.

As for the iPhone 5s, you can order the device on Apple’s online store or head onto physical stores to purchase the device on the 20th, same day as the launched of the iPhone 5c’s retail store release.  The 16GB costs $199, 32GB costs $299, and 64GB for $399 on AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.  For T-Mobile, it offers the 16GB for $649, the 32GB for $749, and the 64GB for $849.  The iPhone 5s is available in space gray, silver and gold, and you can also purchase colorful leather casing for the device for $39.

But if you want to be the first to get your hands on the new iPhone, that chance has already passed as people have started lining up outside Apple Stores even before the devices were revealed.

Camping out

AppleInsider reported that as early as last Thursday, two devoted fanbois were already lining up outside the Fifth Ave Apple Store.  Friends Joe and Brian, both from Brooklyn, New York, were the first two to camp out in preparation for last Tuesday’s event, expecting the devices to go on sale on the same day.  But when asked what they would do if the devices won’t go on sale until the 20th, the two simply said that that they would wait.  On Friday, two others joined the camp out on the same store, Justin and John of Cincinnati’s SellYourMac.com, who are probably on a promotional assignment for the company who buy and sells Apple products.

The four are propped up on beach chairs and are well prepared for any weather that might come their way.

Last Saturday, hundreds invaded the newly re-opened and greatly expanded Stanford Shopping Center Apple Store and some Apple fans intended to camp out to wait for the news iPhone but were chased by mall security.

The US wasn’t the only place with fanbois camping out early, as Tetsuya Tamura, a 44 year old businessman, has already secured his position outside Apple’s Ginza store in Tokyo.  He wants to purchase the iPhone 5s and is well prepared for the week-long ordeal with a cooler, a chair, an umbrella, blanket, things to keep him busy, and of course, plenty of food.

Many have made fun of Apple’s new iPhones, stating that the company wasn’t able to deliver something innovative, but it seems like even if Apple launched an iPhone that looks like the first generation, people will still fall in line, camp out, and brave any weather and circumstances, just to be one of the first to get their hands on the new iPhone.
