Attunity upgrades AWS replication service at AWS re:Invent 2013

Attunity announced on Tuesday that it has enhanced its CloudBeam file replication and transfer service to better accommodate Big Data workloads of varying sizes.

The update introduces “quality of service” tiers that enable customers to optimize their cloud uplinks for cost and performance, with throughput speeds ranging from 200Mbps all the way up to 1Gbps. Data can be transferred as fast as 12 terabytes per day thanks to the addition of two new capabilities for moving and synchronizing data to, from and between enterprise data centers and cloud environments, according to Attunity.

The enhancements include TurboStream DX, a “resilient” WAN transfer engine that offers increased security, and a complementary feature called TurboStream CDC. The latter function takes advantage of native data warehouse capabilities to automate data management deliver large volumes of information while using up as little bandwidth as possible. The latest version of CloudBeam is available for Amazon Redshift globally, and supports Amazon RDS, Amazon S3 and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, better known as EC2.

“Real-time analytics gets a lot of attention, and for good reason, but any analytics, real-time or otherwise, is only as good and as timely as the data its drawn from,” says Wikibon Principal Analyst Jeff Kelly. “Attunity fills an important gap in many Big Data deployments by ensuring that timely data is available for next-generation analytic databases, such as AWS RedShift.”

Attunity is showing off its software at this week’s AWS re:Invent 2013 conference in Las Vegas, which SiliconANGLE’s theCUBE is covering live through Thursday, November 14.
