Holiday gadget gift idea : Nike Fuelband SE

Finding the perfect gift this holiday can be tricky, especially in this age of technological advancement.  A gadget can be a great gift for that special someone, but the tricky part is finding just the right one.

SiliconANGLE suggests the Nike Fuelband SE.  Yep, the fitness tracker.  Why a fitness tracker you ask?  First off, it’s a cool gadget.  Second, it’s a great way of showing you care about the recipient’s well being.  The Nike Fuelband SE tracks your activities, and also helps motivate a person to achieve their fitness goals.

The FuelBand SE monitors the intensity of your workouts with Nike+ Sessions, counts steps, enables sleep tracking, tells the time, displays your progress in real time, and keeps you and your friends motivated through Nike+ Groups.

Nike’s holiday special

Unlike the first version of the Nike Fuelband, the SE now comes in more colors including Volt, Pink Foil, Total Crimson and Black.  The Fuelband looks really sporty so it may not go well with everyone’s taste and style, but in time for the holidays, Nike has released a limited edition in Rose Gold.  It still packs the same fitness tracking goodness, but now in a sleek and more elegant version.

The Fuelband SE is available for $149 while the Rose Gold edition comes at $169.

You can purchase the Nike Fuelband SE in Nike stores or online.  If buying online, enter the code JUSTDOIT on checkout to take advantage of free shipping.

Before you buy a Fuelband, better get the wrist size of the person you are giving it to as wearing a loose Fuelband will yield inaccurate results.  Fuelband is available in three sizes: Small – 5.79 inches or 147mm, Medium/Large – 6.77 inches or172mm, and Extra large – 7.76 inches or 197mm, and it comes with two easy to insert links for a fine-tuned fit.

And finally, you can check your progress via the web or through your iOS device, as these can be paired with the Nike+ FuelBand app via Bluetooth 4.0.  It’s only compatible with iOS so if the recipient is an Android users, this might not be the smartest choice.  The upside is, the device is water-resistant which means the device can withstand sweat during workouts and unexpected drizzles.
