Ultimate wearable tech : New Quantified Self apparel
This week’s Quantified Self roundup features the ultimate in wearable technologies to measure everything you need to know about your body.
Athos Base
The main problem with wearable trackers is the potential for inaccurate readings because it doesn’t rest on the spot where it’s supposed to rest. It’s an issue now being addressed by Athos by producing a line of clothing apparel that comes embedded with sensors and trackers.
The Athos Base is a form-fitting, high-end athletic apparel that is able to measure every muscle exertion, heart beat, and breath. The Athos team has carefully selected the material to be used in the clothing so it will perfectly fit any body type while still being very comfortable to wear.
The sensors are strategically placed to accurately measure the different parameters so users can get a better reading on their body’s performance. Interested parties can now pre-order the Athos Base, but shipping will start in Summer 2014.
OMsignal
This is another clothing apparel line that aims to take the Self Quantified revolution to a whole new level. The OMsignal shirt is made up of compression garment material to improve blood circulation, but is comfortable and adapts to any body type so it feels like a second skin.
The OMsignal shirt has climate control features so you can keep cool no matter the activity, and has embedded silver fibers that helps keep body odor under control. Though the shirt sounds complex, it’s still machine washable.
As for the sensor, it is made to seamlessly fit into the OMsignal shirt, it is water and sweat resistant, it continuously capture data even if you are away from your smartphone, and it connects to your smartphone via low-power Bluetooth. You can see all the data gathered in the smartphone app so you can monitor your journey to a healthier you.
