IoT gets interesting with smart party lights, Bluetooth controller

This week’s SmartHome roundup features smart holiday lights, a Bluetooth smart solution that focuses on smartphones, and other new products for home automation.

MooresCloud holiday smart lights

Holiday

 .

MooresCloud,  an emerging smart home technology provider enabling ‘Illumination-as-a-Service,’ recently announced that Holiday, its smart light decoration, will be available in the US via New York-based Grand St.

Though Christmas is quite far away, Holiday is meant to be used for any occasion, or even just to add a personal touch to your home.  The strings of lights have the capability to display countless patterns, drive animations, and run applications.  The Holiday smartphone app allows users to instantly change the color using the Color Wheel, make the lights dance with the colors of the rainbow, or why not make it show your team’s color on game night?

“This takes the smart home in a new direction, with users able to interact playfully with our lights by using the MooresCloud apps for creative expression,” said Mark Pesce, CEO of MooresCloud.

CSR Mesh

 .

CSR has introduced what it calls a technically disruptive new Bluetooth Smart solution designed to place smartphones at the center of the Internet of Things.  Dubbed CSR Mesh, it combines a configuration and control protocol with CSR’s existing Bluetooth Smart devices, including CSR101x and CSR8811, to allows for an almost unlimited number of Bluetooth Smart enabled devices to be simply networked together and controlled directly from a single smartphone, tablet or PC.  CSR Mech is optimized for smart home and IoT applications.

“Unlike other home automation connectivity solutions, such as Zigbee or Z-Wave, CSR Mesh ensures direct control from mobile devices anywhere in the home, because it doesn’t have a limited range or require a hub,” says Anthony Murray, Senior Vice President, Business Group at CSR. “CSR is committed to driving Internet of Things innovation. We believe this Bluetooth Smart solution will be a real game changer for developers because it means they don’t have to turn to proprietary solutions or add anything else to create products that give consumers what they want — complete home automation they can control from anywhere that ‘just works’.”

BeeWi’s home automation products

 .

European maker of smart toys, BeeWi, introduced new solutions for the smart home.  The line includes the Smart Color Light, which is a colorful LED light that has Sunrise and Disco party mode, the Smart Weather Station to measure the temperature and humidity in a room, the Smart Proximity Sensor to keep track of the most important things in your life, and the Smart Plug so you can connect non-smart appliances.

And to connect everything to the Internet, BeeWi has the Smart Gateway BEG200 which automatically connects all the smart devices to the Internet and allows users to control things remotely using the mobile app, and the Smart Gateway Mobile BMG200 which uses a 3G SIM card oto connect to the Internet to send real-time info about your home.
