JumpCloud server management automation moves to Rackspace marketplace

jumpcloud-logoJumpCloud server management tool enables DevOps and IT pros to manage the explosion of cloud, virtual, and on-premises servers through an automated SaaS-based service. DevOps and IT pros utilize JumpCloud to automate the critical server lifecycle steps of provisioning, configuration, management, and monitoring.

Extending the reach of automation tool for more developers, JumpCloud announced the automated SaaS-based offering is now available through the Marketplace for Rackspace Hosting. IT teams using Rackspace Hosting can now receive automated server management capabilities with JumpCloud.

For Rackspace customers, JumpCloud can now automate server management and saves DevOps teams and IT admins significant time managing users, patches, security, and compliance. The JumpCloud platform effectively automates tasks such as SSH/privileged user management, admin activity monitoring, patch detection and selected compliance requirements.

“As one of the industry’s leading IaaS providers, Rackspace is in a unique position to complement our offering,” said Rajat Bhargava, President and CEO of JumpCloud. “Server management is critical, and every time someone spins up a dedicated server or cloud server based on OpenStack at Rackspace, we can now be a natural extension; we will be there to help automate the labor intensive, yet essential tasks associated with managing servers – in the cloud or otherwise.”

In fact, while the figure of the DevOps becomes more and more central, especially in startups where there is no clear distinction between developers and the IT department, the offices are crowded on the shoulders of fewer and fewer administrator. The JumpCloud server agent, which integrates with incredible ease in managing their own servers, is able to control the servers and users, identify missing security patches, to alert personnel in the event of attacks in progress and verify any abnormal use of resources. In practice, it is as if JumpCloud took over the management, maintenance, monitoring and security of the server.

“As organizations have increasingly scaled their server infrastructures, many have found it challenging to realize the full potential of both enhanced organizational speed and agility,” said John Engates, Rackspace CTO. “Rackspace solves this problem for organizations by offering a unique hybrid cloud platform, which combines public and private cloud form factors with dedicated, bare metal servers. The addition of JumpCloud to the Marketplace will help customers effectively leverage the full potential of the infrastructure they host with Rackspace.”

JumpCloud covers the gap between what you can do and what you know you should be doing with regard to the management of users and the security of the entire cloud infrastructure. JumpCloud’s DevOps automation solution is designed to help IT and DevOps achieve high levels of reliability, avoid unplanned downtime and manage development environments without disruption and delays.

The company recently closed a $3.1 million Series A round led by Bullet Time Ventures and Foundry Group to expand its sales and software engineering team–most importantly to boost server management automation.
