Storage industry giant EMC has promoted three insiders to senior posts in its core Information Infrastructure business this week, two months after tapping chief operating office and theCUBE alumnus David Goulden to head the division.
As part of the shuffle, chief marketing officer Jeremy Burton has been named president of products and marketing. His responsibilities now encompass the vendor’s entire solutions portfolio, in addition to advertising, technical partnerships, cross-unit coordination and the office of the CTO. He is succeeded as CMO by right hand man Jonathan Martin, formerly the senior vice president of corporate marketing, who will continue to report to his old boss.
Meanwhile, Denis Cashman has been bumped up to the role of chief financial officer, a position that was held by Goulden for seven years until his appointment as company president and COO in July 2012. Cashman, a 25-year EMC veteran who most recently served as head of accounting and finance, has a typical CFO job description. He and Burton will both report directly to Goulden.
“Coupled with the fact that we are exceptionally well positioned as a company to help customers navigate this time of great IT transformation, our executive team is second to none,” Goulden said in a statement. “I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside these top-notch leaders, each of whom personifies excellence in their respective domains and each of whom will play a key role as we drive our strategy forward in the years ahead.”
This week’s promotions come five months after EMC announced a sweeping consolidation that saw the VMAX and VNX units merge into a single group led by Brian Gallagher while VPLEX and RecoverPoint were moved over into Guy Churchward’s Data Protection and Availability Division. Goulden said at the time that the changes meant to improve collaboration among engineers and accelerate product development.
