NetApp unveils private storage for Microsoft Azure

glimpse glass cloud big data insight perspective closer lookNetApp announced today the availability of NetApp Private Storage (NPS), a new solution for Microsoft Azure that provides private, dedicated, elastic storage for the public cloud platform. NPS is one of many solutions NetApp now offers for Microsoft Cloud technologies, including FlexPod for Microsoft Private Cloud.

NPS is intended to bridge private resources with the Azure cloud platform in a seamless manner, while also maintaining low latency and high connectivity. The storage system itself will be located at co-location facilities. Data center provider Equinix is the first to offer ExpressRoute connections to Microsoft Azure, giving NetApp Private Storage accelerated connections when compared with VPN over Internet.

NPS also features peak workload management, single and multi-region disaster recovery, hybrid cloud integration, System Center cloud resource optimization and NetApp PowerShell Toolkit for interoperability between cloud and private storage.

NetApp Private Storage for Microsoft Azure is currently deploying throughout North America and will be available in Europe and Asia at a later date.
