Embarcadero launches latest version of Appmethod

Embarcadero Technologies Inc. announced the latest version of  Appmethod, the company’s end-to-end app development platform for building natively compiled, multi-device apps for various mobile operating systems. The latest version of Appmethod now has extended support for Google Glass, and developers who are planning or building apps for the Internet of Things can use the platform to create connected apps across any device or form factor.

The new Appmethod features FireUI – a combination of multi-device UI designer, layout components, and rendering technology; Bluetooth and Wi-Fi App Tethering; Single App Development Platform and Shared C++ Codebase; and Glass dark style theme for correctly styled apps.

Developers can try Appmethod for free here.

Speaktoit’s Api.ai

Speaktoit Inc., a company that’s delivering virtual personal assistants to mobile phones, launched a natural language understanding platform called Api.ai which aims to help developers match Siri clones to apps and devices.

“Wearables, cars, our homes – we’re starting to know what we want to talk to. Speaktoit wants to aid developers in how we talk to them,” Ilya Gelfenbeyn, CEO of Speaktoit, stated.

Api.ai opens a wealth of possibilities for the Internet of Things, as we could be facing a future where we can simply talk to out lights to turn them on or off or to modify their colors, tell the thermostat when to lower the temperature, or tell the TV to change the channel.

WaveMaker Enterprise

WaveMaker Inc., an open source software development platform that automates much of the process for creating Java web and cloud applications, released a new product called the WaveMaker Enterprise. This new product is an aPaaS software for rapid application delivery of enterprise custom apps.

WaveMaker Enterprise features visual rapid application development, out of the box support for security, web services integration and data modelling, a high performance cloud platform based on Docker containers, and a self-serve management console that provides simplified administration.

It enables developers and business users to work with standard, enterprise-grade technologies to create apps quickly but also easily extendable and customizable.

“We offer a dramatic change from previous approaches, even aPaaS. Ours is the first aPaaS software specifically developed for enterprises to run their own Docker-architected aPaaS and optimize cloud and multi-device custom app delivery—from rapid development through ongoing management on their private infrastructure or a public cloud,” Samir Ghosh, CEO of WaveMaker, stated.
