Crossing international borders, Cisco Systems Inc. has expanded its Intercloud partner ecosystems to “almost 40 partners,” said Sherri Liebo, VP of Global Partner Marketing at Cisco during a live interview with theCUBE for SiliconANGLE’s coverage of this week’s Oracle OpenWorld conference. Marquee players including Deutsche Telekom and British Telecom mean that Intercloud has a longer global reach, expanding beyond industrial partners.

Intercloud is a “form of federated cloud,” Liebo explained. It’s Cisco’s “data center blueprint around the world,” she said, calling it a receipt for cloud that each Intercloud partner puts in their data centers. The basic principals of the model include an app-centric infrastructure blueprint, open standards, and vendor-agnostic Intercloud capability. Partners will be able to offer their customers the flexibility to change workloads from public to private cloud. At present, Cisco has 250 data centers around the world committed to their model.

Cisco, Liebo said, has a long history of fostering connectivity, beginning with hooking LANs from multiple vendors into a network. Now, they’re connecting cloud across multiple vendors, hoping that “opening this up and making it everyone’s cloud will spark innovation.”
