Samsung’s 2015 ATIV Book 9 set to take on the MacBook Air

samsung ativ book 9 2015 editionSamsung Electronics America, Inc. will be launching an update to its ATIV Book 9, which is due to be super-slim and light. The new version is due to be launched at the Consumer Electronics Showcase taking place from January 6 – 9 in Las Vegas. The announcement happened on Samsung’s Korean-language blog on Monday.

Despite a 12.2-inch, much sharper 2560 x 1600 display, the Samsung is thinner and lighter than Apple Inc.’s 11-inch MacBook Air. The Samsung weighs just 2.1 pounds and is 0.46 inches thick.

Like the 13-inch MacBook Air, the Samsung’s battery is supposedly due to last for 12 hours on a single charge.

The Core M processors are normally included in 2-in-1 laptops and tablets, so the Samsung is likely to not be as powerful as the MacBook Air which includes Intel’s Core i5 and Core i7 processors.

It is accompanied by an Intel HD 5300 graphics processor, a choice of 4GB or 8GB RAM, and either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

The laptop also features SideSync software, which is included in Samsung’s other PC’s. SideSync allows you to connect your Galaxy phone to the laptop and share the phone’s screen, letting you take calls, share apps and data all on your PC.

The laptop will also be able to prioritize the strongest wireless access connection, allowing you to enjoy improved Internet connectivity with connections being up to 20% faster, according to Samsung.

The Samsung ATIV Book 9 will be available in early 2015, but it is not cheap with prices starting at $1,199.99 for the 4GB version and $1,399.99 for the 8GB version.
