ChangeTip adds Facebook support to Bitcoin tipping service

Bitcoin News For 2015 With SiliconANGLEChangeCoin Inc.’s tipping service ChangeTip has brought Bitcoin tipping to Facebook Inc. for the first time.

The company announced that the extension into Facebook tipping was due to popular demand, and builds on their existing Twitter Inc. and reddit Inc. tipping services.

Users can access Facebook Bitcoin tipping by logging into their ChangeTip account with Facebook credentials; beneath the main headers they’ll find Facebook as an option to select, then a friend’s name and tip amount is added for the transaction to take place.

For a service some may consider niche, ChangeTip has seen some solid numbers. In November 2014 they announced that they had seen the service’s first day with over 10,000 tips, then followed up in December 3rd with news that parent company ChangeCoin had raised seed funding of $3.5 million in a round led by Pantera Capital with the participation of Bold Start Ventures, CryptoCurrency Partners and 500 Startups.

At the time of the $3.5 million round, Pantera Capital CEO Dan Morehead  said that “tipping is likely to be Bitcoin’s first killer app – seamlessly integrated into social media, enabling people to send money in a free, fun, instantaneous way without borders or minimums…This could have a huge impact on bitcoin adoption.”

The new Facebook functionality is available from today.
