Best Twitch alternative live streaming platforms for gamers

Twitch.tv is a live streaming platform, owned by Amazon.com, Inc., on which players from around the world gather to showcase their achievements and successes and communicate with each other. Through Twitch gamers can broadcast their own screens and receive live comments from viewers around the world.

As a platform, Twitch may be outgrowing smaller streamers as it favors big events and streamers with extremely large followings at the expense of medium and small ventures.

Twitch.tv is very popular among gamers but there are a few Twitch alternatives out there for the displaced streamer.

The startup Hitbox,tv is owned by Vienna-based hitbox Entertainment GmbH and seeks spectators, streamers, partners and organizers to gather its streaming platform. Hitbox has marketed itself as a good alternative for Twitch streamers who want to grab audience.

Possibly the biggest key to Hitbox.tv’s potential success lies in the website’s HTML5/JavaScript integration. Hitbox was created with a single goal in mind: level up the streaming experience. No matter whether you are a viewer, streamer, partner, tournament organizer or esports team, Hitbox will offer features tailored just for you, all this on a central platform that engages you even before your program of choice starts and keeps doing so long after it has ended.

Ustream: streaming platform for everyone

The San Francisco-based company Ustream is a general streaming platform, which is not focused solely on gaming (like Hitbox and Twitch are.) Aside from video games, viewers can find sporting events, talk shows and private live streams.

The company also offers its own streaming software to subscribers. The quality is not limited, so HD streams are possible without any problems.

Ustream’s technology also is embedded within Sony Corp’s PlayStation 4, enabling gamers to stream what they’re playing at the press of a button.

The company was responsible for streaming a third of all live business video last year and is used by Facebook, LinkedIn, Intuit, NASA and Salesforce.

The main focus of Azubu livestreams is League of Legends, but the site also covers other competitive games such as Starcraft II, Battlefield 4  and World of Tanks.

The company also brags that the overall quality of its streams are superior to Hitbox and Twitch.

European online video platform Gaming Live has announced their streaming service for games, esports, and other related content last year. The startup was funded by Dubai’s TURN8 Accelerator and earned a seed fund of $30,000. The company main goal is to create a platform where gamers and content producers can easily set up live streams and video on-demand, and let them monetize their work in a fair revenue share model.

Gaming Live aims to become the most important medium of information and entertainment for millions of gaming enthusiasts, who prefers to find all they need in one place.
