Supporting success with ServiceNow’s HR suite | #know15

Jen Stroud, ServiceNow

Promoting a culture of mutual success — something that starts at the very top — is key for ServiceNow, according to Jen Stroud, senior director and GM of HR Products and Applications at ServiceNow.

“Everybody is interested in everybody being successful,” Stroud said in an interview with theCUBE hosts John Furrier and Dave Vellante at ServiceNow’s Knowledge15 event in Las Vegas. That’s a philosophy that carries over into the company’s products, especially the new HR suite of applications that is building in support for many common HR services right out of the box, from tuition reimbursements, employment verifications and PTO requests to managing time off and leaves of absence.

Limitless possibilities

“In my view, when I look at what I want to provide HR leaders, I want to provide them out of the box a product that meets the majority of their needs in delivering services to their employees,” Stroud said. And it has to have a top-notch user interface “because it’s all about the employee experience with HR. IT doesn’t care about the employee experience. HR cares about the employee experience. So, really, working on that user interface and that experience and the workflows, for me, the possibilities are limitless.”

Even though HR is a new target for the ServiceNow platform, Stroud says it’s a natural fit.

“HR is five to 10 years behind IT. They’re finally understanding that you can’t manage with spreadsheets and email anymore,” she explained. “And we’re seeing it — I don’t care the size of the organization or what their annual revenues are. There are many organizations struggling with the same thing. How do they provide a better experience for their employees? And how do they do it in a consistent way?”

ServiceNow is working to answer those questions and become a trusted name in HR, even integrating their front-end applications with a variety of databases and other services to simplify the transition. But the future is becoming clear: If companies want to keep up with changing trends and employee expectations, platforms like ServiceNow provide the support companies depend on.
