EMC moves forward with data protection, enterprise storage plans | #emcworld

Guy Churchward, president of EMC Corp.’s Core Technology Division, spoke with theCUBE during EMC World 2015 about the company’s hardware and software solutions. Churchward realized the company had a strong software foundation when he discovered that ninety-nine percent of his team’s engineers are software engineers.

“We have a clear directive to say that we have a software version of everything we produce,” he said.

EMC’s latest advancements

Churchward discussed some of EMC’s latest advancements, such as its VMAX3 enterprise data services platform. “It’s highly resilient and all about that core DNA,” he said. The platform automates service level delivery securely across all IT infrastructures.

The XtremIO, EMC’s all-flash array, is also getting a lot of attention. “It is a very high-scale, high-performance all-flash array,” said Churchward. “You’ll never have an issue with latency spikes.”

A path to the Cloud

Churchward intends to generate net positive business this year with these two products, as well as the VNX family of flash storage. Churchward also plans to focus on Cloud. “We’ve made three acquisitions in the past year, and each one of them is a path to the Cloud.”
