VMware channels the spirit of One Cloud into new architecture | #emcworld

VMware, Inc.’s new One Cloud, Any Application, Any Device architecture doesn’t actually employ one cloud. The notion, explains VMware CMO Robin Matlock, encompasses the spirit of what a customer wants the cloud to be.

Creating a seamless hybrid Cloud

The architecture enables IT organizations to operate on- and off-premises Clouds as a single, unified environment.

“We’re taking the VMware stack and extending that seamlessly to the hybrid Cloud,” Matlock said. “Customers use different clouds to run their businesses. We want them to have the power and tools to manage it as one, secure it as one, and be able to leverage their expertise behind the firewall private cloud just like they can in their public cloud implementation,” she continued.

As a member of the EMC Federation, VMware and the other four members can leverage each other’s strengths to “impact the market and provide value to customers,” Matlock stated. Although VMware collaborates with Federation members, it still must work independently to stay abreast of competition.

“We sit on a rich base of customers who are committed to our technologies,” said Matlock. “Our job is to help them leverage that investment and add more value on top of that.”
