EMC, SAS embrace third-party ecosystem | #emcworld

SAS Institute, Inc., a leader in analytics and data management, helps customers move through the digital divide by teaming with more than 800 IT industry partners. SAS, like EMC Corp., clearly values collaboration, which makes is an important aspect to big data and data management.

‘Big Data is an ecosystem plane’

“To make the most of Big Data, you have to do something useful with the insights you gain,” said Aidan O’Brien, general manager of EMC’s Big Data Strategic Initiative, in an interview with theCUBE during EMC World 2015. “We don’t have all the tools in our portfolio to help customers deliver that value. That’s why we embrace the third-party ecosystem, especially with SAS. Big data is an ecosystem plane.”

While traveling on this Big Data ecosystem plane, it’s important to keep the Big Data Lake well managed.

“We direct management of access and control to data apps and technologies within a model that we call the data governor,” said Scott Van Valkenburgh, SAS senior director of global alliances, who also joined theCUBE. “That’s crucial and what clients are crying out for.”
