Nutanix brings back the weekend | #NEXTConf

Nutanix is “the most disruptive and liberating technology that I have used in the last 10 years,” proclaimed Bob Love, director of Information Technologies at Bottomline Technologies, a financial services focused software as a service. The Nutanix system delivers “high availability” and “ease of management,” Love reported to theCUBE’s Dave Vellante and Stu Miniman at Nutanix .NEXT Conference 2015.

Bottomline provides websites and banking locations for about 800 banks and credits unions, as well as online payment networks and a variety of other legal and healthcare services. Bottomline is beginning to develop security for those companies as well, according to Love. The 20-year-old company is comprised of around 1,500 people and based in Portsmith, NH.

Increasing efficiency and agility

Three years ago, when Love joined Bottomline, he brought in Nutanix. Love described Bottomline as “cost conscience organization,” which is why he found being able to reduce 50 racks of servers to four racks attractive. The introduction of Nutanix has made Bottomline “a more efficient and agile organization, and that’s a significant hit to the bottom line … no pun intended,” Love claimed. The transition to Nutanix began with desktops for developers around the world and led to “all [Bottomline’s] core back-end IT infrastructure.”

When Vellante inquired how Love decided on Nutanix, he recalled that Nutanix was “the most attractive of all … the spectrum of providers because they were the owners of the tin, the hardware, as well as the software. They were fully-integrated and consolidated.”

Love added, “We have been through three of them now,” referring to Nutanix’s One-Click Upgrades. “It actually is that simple.”

Love says that these factors “free up my guys to do high tasks now. Prior to Nutanix, things were done the old-fashioned way.” The transition has made Love a “hero” within Bottomline. Love called Nutanix “agnostic in their approach,” which makes the software applicable to every aspect of Bottomline.
