Green Man Gaming promises refunds for Batman: Arkham Knight if it’s not fixed soon

While Batman: Arkham Knight might be getting rave reviews on consoles, the PC version is another story. The PC game launched yesterday with even worse performance issues than Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and it has many former fans racing for the refund line. Unfortunately, not every retailer offers refunds for games, but digital game retailer Green Man Gaming Limited (GMG) has promised to offer returns for Arkham Knight if the PC issues are not fixed in the first patch.

“We’re aware that a number of users have been having issues with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, and we’re talking to [Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment Inc] who are resolved to address these concerns,” GMG said in a blog post. “Warner Bros. are currently working on a patch which we are hoping will be released soon. We want you to enjoy your game, but if after the fix has been released, you still cannot play your game, we will process refund requests for the game.”

While GMG is clearly aware of the serious issues plaguing Arkham Knight, that has not stopped the site from prominently displaying ads for the game across its main store page, and the details about a possible refund are hidden away on the company blog—and let’s be honest, how many people actually read that?

Still, GMG’s promise is somewhat reassuring to consumers, even if it sounds like the refund may only be available if the game does not play at all, not if it plays like your computer is a potato.

So far, Arkham Knight’s developer, Rocksteady Studios, has said little about the game’s issues aside from acknowledging that they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution.

The developer wrote an update on Arkham Knight’s Steam Community page outlining a few temporary solutions to make the game at least playable. Gamers who play on PC for its superior power and graphics capabilities are not thrilled at being told that they should not expect higher than 30FPS in the game, or that they should “not set their resolution higher than 1080p.”

It is not yet clear where exactly the blame rests for Arkham Knight’s terrible PC performance, but Rocksteady was quick to mention that it was working on a solution with its “external PC development partner,” Iron Galaxy Studios.
