At the cusp of a ‘new’ Microsoft | #NEXTConf

Microsoft’s partnership with Nutanix, Inc. appears to be paying dividends for both parties — and for their shared customers, according to Vijay Tewari, principle group program manager at Microsoft, and Sunil Potti, SVP Engineering and Product Managment at Nutanix. In an interview with theCUBE, SilciconANGLE’s Media production team, the duo talked with host Stu Miniman about their partnership.

According to Tewari, Microsoft works with a lot of people in the ecosystem to help its partners build solutions for customers. “So my role in the company is to help our partners build engineered solutions for the private Cloud,” he said.

Emerging beyond ‘just the public’

Potti said their relationship has benefited both companies.

“Over the last year, we’ve had great collaboration … across multiple dimensions that we can get into that has actually fostered a lot of goodwill between the two teams, not just on the product side or the leadership side, but also on the sales and channels side,” he said. “And that has brought us even closer to be a lot more confident and trusting of a long-term relationship.”

“We are at the cusp of I think the “new Microsoft,” really emerging beyond just the public,” Potti said. “They’ve made a significant impact into the private enterprise and doing it in a way where you can truly own enterprise workloads both in and out. And that’s why I think there’s a mutually beneficial partnership long-term.”

Tewari emphasized the deep engineering relationship the companies share and its benefit for customers. “It all starts with what do customers want,” he explained. “And I think one of the great things about something like Nutanix is that they really focus on solving a customer’s problem. …. And I think that’s the vision that Nutanix and Microsoft share.”

Tewari concluded, “Our customers demand that you get the best opportunity to run on the best platform, and we want to participate in that opportunity with them.”
