New enterprise solutions in the changing world of networking | #CCL2015

As more businesses and devices go online, the world of networking has had to change and adapt. Not only are customers demanding more service, but they need their networking to be faster, more reliable and more secure than ever before. New solutions such as Direct Connect dedicated connectivity and Cloud services are giving networking companies the edge they need to compete in the data-driven world.

To help shed some light on the changing world of networking, John Furrier and Jeff Frick, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, sat down with Samual Curtis, a Partner with Rack59, LLC, at the Console Connect Live 2015 conference.

Curtis explained that the new focus in networking was on secure, private connections. Another concern was the Cloud. As the Cloud becomes more defined, it’s become important to make the Cloud accessible for the company’s customers.

A world of direct connections

As consumers demand more services online, content providers have looked toward networking companies to connect them closer to their customers. To compete, these content providers need to make the customer experience as quick and seamless as possible. Likewise, networking companies must give the content providers fast, reliable service.

Beyond the rise of content providers, networking has also been breaking down the walls between the application developers and networking technicians. Software-defined networking is bringing those two camps closer, enabling new ways of delivering networking services.

Security and the future

While customers always want more bandwidth, their first concern is security. New networking technologies are offering that security by reducing the network’s vulnerability to denial-of-service attacks and other threats.

Networking companies are also developing solutions for the future. Direct Connect is one way they’re preparing for the growth of digital traffic, but they also know that legacy solutions aren’t enough to do the job. New technologies that increase the ability for businesses to interconnect will be a vital part of networking’s future.
