‘Bloodborne: The Old Hunters’ DLC announced as yet another November game release

This is going to be a rough November for gamers with tight budgets. So far, we have several new entries from major gaming franchises like Fallout 4Rise of the Tomb Raider, and StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, all arriving within a few days of one another this November. Now Dark Souls creator From Software will also be throwing its hat into that ring with the first downloadable content release for its PlayStation 4 exclusive game Bloodborne.

The new expansion, The Old Hunters, will be available for download through the PlayStation Network on November 24 for $19.99.

Here is the PlayStation blog’s description of the new content:

Set in a nightmare world where hunters from the past are trapped forever, explore brand new stages full of dangers, rewards, and deadly beasts to overcome. You’ll find multiple new outfits and weapons to add to your arsenal as well as additional magic to wield and add more variety to your combat strategy.

With new story details, learn the tale of hunters who once made Yharnam their hunting grounds, meet new NPCs, and discover another side of the history and world of Bloodborne. Here’s a brief glimpse of just some of what lies in store for you when The Old Hunters launches on November 24th, including Simon’s Bowblade weapon, and new boss enemy Ludwig.

Bloodborne was received with almost universal critical acclaim when it released in March, and it recently passed over 2 million units sold. The game currently holds a score of 92/100 on Metacritic from nearly 100 reviews and has been praised for its unique setting and challenging combat.

Like the Dark Souls games, Bloodborne does not hold players’ hands when it comes to tough enemies, labyrinthine level maps, or even ambiguous storytelling. Of course, in an age of lowest common denominator game design full of Simon Says quicktime events and giant flashing objective arrows, providing players with a decent challenge is exactly why From Software went from some obscure Japanese developer to a world-renowned game studio within only a few short years.
