iOS 9 update available today: worldwide iOS 9 release times, support from volunteer Apple Genius staff

The long-awaited release of iOS 9 has finally arrived and, as usual, millions of iOS users around the world will be eagerly waiting to update their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as soon as humanly possible.

It seems Apple has taken to social media to reveal the specific times the iOS 9 update will be available in cities around the world and to offer support in the form of “Real help from volunteer Apple Genius staff,” should anything go wrong with your iOS 9 update.

As per this Apple Support Twitter account (not an official Apple handle), the iOS 9 update will be released at 10AM PST/1PM EST today, September 16.

A handy list of cities, with their expected iOS 9 release times, is offered. Here are the highlights:

  • San Francisco: 10AM
  • Dallas: 12PM
  • New York: 1PM
  • Buenos Aires: 2PM
  • London: 6PM
  • Amsterdam: 7PM
  • Jerusalem: 8PM
  • Bangkok: midnight on Thursday
  • Hong Kong: 1AM on Thursday
  • Seoul: 2AM on Thursday
  • Sydney: 3AM on Thursday

Apple also confirmed that the iOS 9 update will offer to temporarily delete certain apps in order to make space for the update, should your device not have enough space for the 1.4GB update. All deleted apps will automatically be replaced after the update is complete.
