Why Splunk is a product company at heart | #splunkconf

“The one thing that a product organization is about is delivering product. Delivery, delivery, delivery … that’s what our shop is about. And it should be.”

Splunk, Inc. SVP of Products Guido Schroeder has an end game goal of continuous delivery in the cloud, but for now he is happy that the new Splunk Enterprise 6.3 has a quarterly release schedule.

In an interview with John Furrier and Jeff Frick, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, at Splunk.conf 2015 in Las Vegas, Schroeder talked about Splunk’s current new product announcements and areas into which the company could grow in the future.

Splunk constantly innovates

“I’m blown away by the lineup of new stuff we have,” said Schroeder as he described the new features of Splunk Enterprise 6.3 and Enterprise Security 4.0. Schroeder believes that Splunk has the best insight into what its customers need, providing the expertise and hardware that allows the customer to focus on their business.

Splunk is a product company at heart and having an executive team with the caliber of Schroeder is one of the factors to its growth and success, according to theCUBE’s Furrier. In the five years since Schroeder first sat down to chat with theCUBE, Splunk has increased fivefold, and now it has an engineering team of 500+ employees.

Compelling projects and a compelling culture means Splunk maintains its talented team and are constantly innovating. Schroeder said: “We point the machine at the next target, and we’re just rolling.”
