The art of bringing Big Data and the user together | #BigDataNYC
Every digital business knows the importance of Big Data, but there’s a vast gulf between simply collecting lots of information and finding the value in all that data. Tools that make it easier for companies to extract the valuable signal from the digital noise are making an impact on the data world.
To help shed some light on this trend, Dave Vellante and George Gilbert of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, invited Donna Prlich, VP of products and solutions marketing with Pentaho Corp., to speak with them at the BigDataNYC 2015 conference during Strata + Hadoop World.
The conversation started with a look at what Pentaho was doing. Prlich mentioned it was at the conference to make a major product release announcement. Also, they came to talk on the subject of how to manage data flow.
The benefits of simpler tools
In the fast-paced environment of modern business, making use of Big Data in real time is vital. This sort of speed demands new tools and requires that data be brought closer to the user than ever before. New capabilities, such as inline modeling and auto-preparation of the data, help achieve these goals.
Another way to bring speed to the Big Data world is to reduce the complexity of working with the information. Tools that enable people who aren’t specialists to work with data allow a company to do more with the information they’ve collected.
The new power of Big Data
As the world of Big Data evolved, so too has what companies can do with it. Although strict governance is necessary to preserve the accuracy of data, new tools allow people to make use of information with a speed that never been seen before. The totality of that information also enables companies to form a whole profile of their customers and needs in real time.
