Mobility challenging in non-traditional cloud environments | #DellWorld

While Amazon has made the most strives in on-site cloud technology, Dell, Inc. makes a formidable opponent in nontraditional cloud environments, like countries without conventional infrastructure. With Dell, “the disadvantaged user can … take cloud anywhere,” according to Cameron Chehreh, CTO at Dell Federal. Although Amazon has “validate[d] the cloud” in the market, Dell’s “value proposition is much greater,” he continued.

Dell’s customer-centric approach

Currently, Dell is “pervasive in every government you think of around the world” Chehreh told John Furrier and Dave Vellante, cohosts of theCUBE, cohosts of the SiliconANGLE Media team, during an interview at Dell World 2015 in Austin, Texas. Chehreh attributed this success to Dell’s “customer-centric” approach to the industry.

The role of the federal government is only getting more complex in regards to security. Chehreh said. “Fair and open competition is necessary” when dealing with the government, but having a single provider is a “tremendous value,” he added.

“The Internet of Things is the most exciting trend since the founding of the Internet,” commented Chehreh. IoT offers inspiring advances for the government, from the obvious tools for the intelligence community to more innovative directions in sensoring. Chehreh gave the example of managing road conditions and maintenance, as well as public safety. Sensors could also be utilized to predict food spoilage and revolutionize food and water safety.

“There are so many use cases” and Dell is working on “understanding how we fit into that ecosystem,” he added.
