Is Cisco’s Unified Computing System taking security to the next level? | #oow15

Cisco System, Inc.’s Unified Computing System’s (UCS) technology enables more secure delivery of data packets between nodes thanks to the incorporation of Cisco Nexus Series switches. And, according to John McAbel, senior product manager of Oracle Solutions at Cisco, UCS may be the best bet for security in the industry.

“By incorporating Nexus technology, we’ve proven that all the data packets are going to go to all nodes in the Oracle RAC cluster,” McAbel explained to Stu Miniman, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team. He told Miniman during Oracle OpenWorld 2015 that an independent third-party study of Cisco’s UCS backs up his claims.

The study, he said, looked at data packet loss among UCS and several of its competitors and found that while all competitors showed some data packet loss, UCS showed none.

Popularity of integrated infrastructures on the rise

McAbel also spoke about increasing demand for integrated systems and infrastructures among customers. “We’re seeing a huge increase in people buying the integrated infrastructures,” he said. “The reason for it really is that people are looking for total solutions,” he said.
