The data center is not confined anymore | #oow15

About 60,000 people attended this year’s Oracle OpenWorld 2015 event to talk about innovation and transformation on a large scale.

Lisa Spelman, data center manager at Intel, and Jim McHugh, VP of product and solutions marketing for Unified Computing Systems (UCS) at Cisco Systems, Inc., spoke with Brian Gracely, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during the Oracle OpenWorld 2015 event.

Intel, Cisco partnership

“I think Cisco was ahead of the game in creative and sophisticated solutions that were addressing some of tomorrow’s problems, and tomorrow is now today. So, they have had tremendous success in the market, and we have been delighted to share in that with them,” explained Spelman.

Joined by McHugh, they explained how networking, data and the cloud have convened to create entire systems for data storage and processing. These companies working together have been instrumental in the changing face of tech.

A shifting technology transformation in the data center

McHugh summarized the shifting technology transformation by saying that there are huge movements – combinations of old and new technologies and new technologies – that are completely changing data storage and processing.
