The innovation of Cisco’s UCS platform | #oow15

When Cisco Systems, Inc. first started innovating toward what we see today, it was 2005, and a lot of people didn’t believe it could do what it set out to do. One of the past naysayers is now the head of marketing for the company.

Bruno Messina, marketing manager for Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) sat down with Brian Gracely, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Oracle OpenWorld 2015 to talk about the UCS platform that is actively changing computing for organizations deploying servers.

Cisco’s innovations ready for today

“What Cisco did was, instead of looking from the server out, they looked from the network in, and they were able to manage servers from the network. And they are able to take into account everything about the server,” explained Messina.

This shift in the way Cisco approached servers, networks and the cloud has changed the way all elements interact with each other and has expanded the possibilities of what is possible.

Messina continued, “It entails a whole lot of possibilities and all kinds of benefits … when I first heard it … I didn’t believe they could do it.”
